Yes, it is safe. Ferrofluid is non-toxic, and it is contained in a sealed plastic PET enclosure. Safety was our #1 concern when starting the company, and we have taken every step to make a product that is as safe as it is beautiful. Additionally, we are globally compliant in all markets entered for radio waves, bluetooth, and emissions including FCC and CE for Europe.

No. The ferrofluid is sealed inside a closed chamber and cannot leak.

Yes. The amount of ferrofluid is under the legal liquid limit, and we have tested Volta rigorously on international flights. They have never been stopped at TSA.

Yes. There are two modes. Rhythm mode makes the ferrofluid react to your music as it plays. Fixed mode holds a steady pattern that doesn't follow the music. Double-press the light button to switch between modes, and double-press again to turn the ferrofluid off.

About 6 hours with the ferrofluid on, and 100+ hours with the ferrofluid off.

The ferrofluid runs on battery. Below 20% charge it rests to save power for your audio, so your music keeps playing longer. Plug in to charge and the fluid comes back to life. Any standard USB-C cable works.

Yes. Volta has active noise cancelling (ANC), a transparency mode for hearing your surroundings, and a built-in mic for calls.

Yes. Volta ships with a 3.5mm cable for wired listening.

The Volta app gives you unlimited LED customization, a 10-band parametric EQ with gain, frequency and Q on every band, control of the ferrofluid modes, and software updates for your headphones.

Yes. We release software updates to fix bugs and improve performance, and they install on your headphones through the Volta app. The first pairs to ship will get updates first. When an update is ready we will email you and post step-by-step instructions in our Discord.

Volta is a first-generation product built by a small team, so a few early pairs may run into software glitches. If yours does, email us at support@volta.audio or post in the bug report channel in our Discord, and describe what's happening. We will meet with you to debug it and push a fix to your headphones' software through the Volta app.

Yes, you can get a full refund at any time before your order ships. Simply log into your account at shopify.volta.audio and request a refund, or contact our support team at support@volta.audio and we will process your refund within 24-48 hours.

International deliveries may be subject to customs duties, VAT/GST, and handling fees charged by your local customs authority. These costs are not included at checkout unless explicitly labeled as "Duties & Taxes Included." Customers are responsible for any additional import charges.

The headphones weigh 590 g (1.3 lb) and feature dense memory foam cushioning for optimal comfort and weight distribution. The headband has an adjustable tilt mechanism, adjusting to any head size. We have optimized the product rigorously for comfort, weight distribution, and overall quality, creating an experience that is not just beautiful, but competitive with the larger audio industry.
